Horse Shows

Horse Show Guide

We would like for all our students who are able and ready to come and experience the fun of horse showing. It starts with a lot of patience and of course preparation. Horse shows are not just about the day of the show but all the time you put into getting ready. We get ready by taking lessons, learning all we can and perfecting our performance. Then we need to get our horses ready and our equipment ready as well. This can sometimes take all day and the show itself can also be a long day of waiting, watching, and learning.

We want our horse show students to get the whole experience. So, we start with taking 2 lessons a week for the 2 weeks before the show. Then, we need to meet the day before the show and prepare our horses, equipment, and the horse trailer.

Horses:

They will need to get a bath(weather permitting) or be curried and brushed thoroughly. They will need to be clipped and have their manes pulled(or braided). Remember, horse showing is about creating a clean and crisp picture of rider and horse as much as being judged on your riding skills.

Our Tack:

All tack that will be used at the show must be cleaned. This includes bridle, saddle, martingale, and girth. All these items should then be neatly placed in the dressing room of the horse trailer that your horse will be traveling in.

The Trailer:

We want to make sure our horses are traveling in a clean trailer. So first we will make sure it is clean. Next, fill hay bags. Make sure there is one for every horse riding in that trailer. We also want to make sure there is water in the provided containers (kept in the dressing room).

It is very important that you find out when to arrive and where. It can be a little hectic so stay patient and calm. We look forward to a fun and successful show season and hope to see some new horse show riders. See your instructor to find out if you are ready for the horse show experience.
